Your OpportunityStantec GS seeks a mid-level Environmental Planner/Scientist to be an integral part of our National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) planning and permitting practice and support DoD work in New England.
The mid-level Environmental Planner/Scientist will support our Environmental Services business line on a wide variety of environmental consulting projects for DoD and federal clients.
The candidate will work as part of multidisciplinary teams to prepare NEPA documents and other environmental planning studies and reports, permit applications, compliance evaluations, and site condition assessments.
Applicants for the position must demonstrate general knowledge of the natural and man-made environments subject to evaluation in NEPA studies, along with technical expertise in one or more specific areas of environmental planning, compliance, and permitting.
Your Key Responsibilities Contribute to the preparation of environmental planning, compliance, and permitting documentation.
Conduct data collection, desktop research, literature review, regulatory review and analysis, analysis of existing information, environmental impact assessment, report preparation (technical writing and editing), and coordination with stakeholders.
Interpret and apply environmental statues, regulations and Executive Orders for compliance with relevant local, state, and federal laws.
Assist with client or stakeholder meeting preparation, facilitation, and documentation.
Support regulatory consultations with resource management agencies and assist with permit preparation for regulatory submittal.
Candidate must be willing and able to travel periodically, perform client visits, participate in field work and site assessments that require work outside the office and overnight travel and site visits at military bases.
Ability to perform detail-oriented work on complex projects.
Ability to exercise professional discretion and judgement.
Additional Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Participate as a field crew member to assist with multimedia sampling events, resource surveys, or site condition assessments.
Conduct outdoor fieldwork, sometimes in inclement weather, where you will be walking, standing, kneeling on uneven terrain and carrying equipment that may weigh up to 20 pounds.
Your Capabilities and Credentials Demonstrated excellent communication skills, including both verbal and written for effectively interfacing with internal an external project team members; writing samples required at time of interview.
Organizational management skills for simultaneously working on multiple projects and balancing a demanding workload.
Familiarity with federal state and local environmental laws and regulations.
Self-motivated, driven, and hard working.
Strong working knowledge and proficiency in word-processing and integrated software applications, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Valid US driver's license in good standing with a clean record.
Drug screen required for this position.
Excellent and relevant references.
Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in environmental science, biology, ecology, natural resources, or an earth science-related field and 2
years of relevant experience.
Professional registration/certification (AICP, CEP, PMP, PE, PG, RA, PWS, etc.
